Wallace to his daughter Violet from Niagara Falls (Canada), 16 Mar 1887, describing the partly frozen falls and surrounding area; ferns entirely absent, probably taken by tourists, every rock and stump covered with (carved) names; enclosed sketch map in black ink on paper approximately 14 cm x 15cm showing Prospect House, Horseshoe Fall, American Falls, Goat Island, Luna Island, Three Sisters (islands) bridges, rapids and points at which there is ice; original stamped envelope addressed to Miss Violet Wallace at Frith Hill, Godalming, postmarked on the front Niagara Falls Ontario 17 Mar 1887 and on the back Hamilton Canada 17 Mar 1887 and Godalming 28 Mar 1887. Place: Niagara Falls Ontario Canada USA Notes: The sketch was separately numbered at first listing because it was out of sequence in the original order, and only certainly identified as an enclosure to this letter after the letter was read.
