Wallace with cheating in their (1870) wager re the curvature of the earth. Annotated in the front left margin in (John Hampden's?) hand "These are being [presently] circulated among all the clergy, magistrates, journalists, and private families in the county of Surrey. J. H". Place: Godalming Surrey England Notes: The initials at the end of the annotation could be J.W. (J H Walsh?) J.H. (John Hampden) or J.M., but the writing appears to be John Hampden's. The pamphlet is described in box list as "Hampden's Accusation." |
