Annotated on the back in ink in the same unknown hand as that on the photo of corrugated basalt at Siebengebrige and other photos in WP17/8 "Views from Puy Nugere, Auvergne." (Puy de la Nugere is an extinct volcano). Undated. Possibly c. 1893, when A. R. Wallace was writing on glaciation (See WP1/2/39, letter to Violet Wallace 8 October 1893). Photographer unknown.
